Characteristics of the Four Jhanas

Duration 23:25

Jhanas are states of meditative absorption that are characterized by intense bliss, joy and profound stillness. The Buddha’s teachings highlight eight jhanas, also known as the four form jhanas and the four formless jhanas or immaterial states.

In this video, I outline the different jhana factors found in the four form jhanas. I also examine whether we can become attached to jhanas and if they are necessary on the path to awakening.
